The Challenge

Securitas Ireland, part of the global Securitas AB organisation of 341,000 employees, provides a range of security services in Ireland including on-site, mobile, and remote security. Securitas Ireland services diverse environments from colleagues to data centres to transport infrastructure to manufacturing facilities.

In a large client’s data centre site, Securitas wanted to increase employee engagement and improve the working environment, especially around positive manager appreciation.

They asked Amplify to provide an engaging and impactful recognition programme that would produce results on a tight budget.

The Progamme

Amplify created the “You Make The Difference” programme for Securitas. The programme is a peer-to-peer recognition programme, where all site employees and managers can be recognised based on the Securitas values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness.

There are 3 budget levels, with Employees, Assistant Supervisors and Supervisors each receiving different levels of credits each month to nominate colleagues with. The credits are automatically added each month on a “use it or lose it“ basis – i.e. any unused credits in the month expire when the following months credits are allocated.

Staff use their credits on Recognition Hub to nominate colleagues for a High Five, Applause or Ovation award. All nominations include a Securitas value and a short explanation for the award. Nominees receive their reward in the form of Red Dots, the branded currency of the programme.

All nomination Shout-outs are posted to the programme timeline, where staff can view, like and comment on awards, making the programme really transparent and engaging.

At the end of the year, each employee’s Red Dots are automatically converted into AllGo Mastercard Gift Cards, providing for tax-free rewards for staff on the Small Benefit Scheme.

The Result

For the 1st time, Securitas’ managers have a way of thanking staff in real time for their extra efforts. The programme has received an approval rating of 90% from staff. And over 90% of participants say that the “You Make The Difference” programme has improved company culture.

The programme results in tax-free payout at the year end, saving costs for both the company and employees, and providing a welcome bonus for staff at Christmastime, when it’s most appreciated.
